DMG Used Machines – 5-Axis Machining Centers and Turn-Mill Centers

Under the DMG brand (Deckel Maho Gildemeister, today DMG MORI), the milling machines from Deckel Maho and the turn-mill centers from Gildemeister are brought together – from compact 5-axis machining centers of the DMU and DMC series to the GMX turn-mill center for complete chuck and shaft part machining. Every machine we take into stock is technically inspected for control system, drive technology and mechanical condition. Our stock changes continuously; which DMG machines are currently available with full technical data is shown in detail below.

Frequently Asked Questions about DMG Used Machines

Deckel and Maho merged to form Deckel Maho, which still builds the milling and machining centers of the DMC and DMU series today (including the monoBLOCK, duoBlock and hi-dyn designs). Gildemeister specializes in turning and turn-mill centers, which include the GMX series. In the course of the group's formation, both brands were brought together under the shared DMG umbrella (today DMG MORI) – which is why this page features both pure machining centers (DMC/DMU) and a turn-mill center (GMX) under a single brand.

monoBLOCK refers to a one-piece, highly rigid cast machine frame – as used on the DMU 100 monoBLOCK – and is particularly well suited to single-part and small-batch production. duoBlock describes a two-part design with assemblies that move crosswise, as on the DMC 80 U duoBlock, which as a result achieves higher accelerations (up to 7 m/s² here) and rapid traverse rates. hi-dyn additionally denotes particularly dynamic axis drives, reflected in the high rapid traverse rates of the DMC 125 U hi-dyn (40,000 mm/min) and the DMU 160P hi-dyn (60,000 mm/min). All three series use the same NC swivel milling head technology with motor spindle and HSK-63 tool holder.

The DMC 80 U duoBlock, the DMC 125 U hi-dyn and the DMU 160P hi-dyn all work with an NC rotary table (C-axis), on which the workpiece is clamped flat and rotated about the vertical axis – ideal for compact, block-shaped or plate-like components. The DMU 100 monoBLOCK, on the other hand, uses a swivel spindle (B-axis) combined with a vertical NC indexing table with tailstock (A-axis) made by Lehmann, in which the workpiece is held between centers – a clear advantage for elongated workpieces and shaft-type parts that would be difficult to clamp securely on a plain rotary table.

In the monoBLOCK design, the longitudinal and transverse movements are handled by the milling head, while the table only performs the vertical axis – this results in greater dynamics and optimal force transmission in the Z-axis guideway, independent of the actual machining height. The Z-axis of the DMU 100 monoBLOCK runs on particularly widely spaced linear guides (600 mm guide spacing), which adds further stability for precision machining. The standard equipment of this monoBLOCK generation includes a liquid-cooled motor spindle, digital drives with direct measuring systems (glass scales) on all axes, backlash-free roller linear guides and geometric temperature compensation. The funnel-shaped machine bed ensures optimal removal of chips and coolant, and the large swing door opens up the entire working area with a single movement – for short setup times and good access when changing workpieces.

The GMX 500 Twin combines a main and a counter spindle in a single machine, enabling the complete machining of chuck, bar and shaft parts in just one setup: the workpiece is transferred internally from the main spindle to the counter spindle, so that rear-side machining takes place without re-aligning – delivering excellent concentricity and short throughput times. The Z1 axis with linear motor drive provides particularly high dynamics and short non-productive times. The turn-mill spindle, with speeds of up to 12,000 min⁻¹ and an HSK-A63 tool holder, allows complex milling and drilling operations alongside turning in the same setup, supported by a tool turret with 12 driven stations and an additional 80-station tool magazine. This combination makes the GMX 500 Twin particularly economical for gearbox, pump and flange parts that require both turning and milling operations on the front and back.
